San Francisco-based artist Richard Turtletaub specializes in oil painting in multiple styles. Using imagery that can be considered mid-century meets the ethereal, his work displays a dreamlike narrative whether employing vintage advertising or abstract shapes.
As a graphic designer, Richard has been awarded for his magazine layouts and has had work exhibited in various design publications. His illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post among many others.
He has more recently created projected graphics for live theater, including for a production of “A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”, for which he won a Theater Bay Area award in 2019.
Along those lines, he has begun to produce installation work that combines projected imagery with paintings and graphics.
His paintings have been selected to appear in both the 2020 and the 2023 deYoung Open (triennial) exhibitions in San Francisco.
